On July 1st; Ruth, Rebecca and myself went to a party at the U.S. Embassy in Ouaga. We were already planning to come to Ouaga to pick up a girl coming in on the 2nd, so it worked out perfectly.
When we walked up to the Ambassador’s we were greeted by him and his two kids. There was American music playing and the place was decorated with red, white and blue. I was instantly teleported back to the States.
Burkinabae men and women catered the event and were dressed in nice white outfits and offered us various American appetizers. These ranged from mini burgers to hot dogs. I even got a brownie for dessert! Yum!
It was a nice time of socializing with English speaking people, good food, and remembering that...oh yeah...I am from America...not Burkina Faso.
